About Us

Johnny LondonJohnny London, a 6'7" British composer and musician, played in several bands and was a guitar teacher in England for 15 years when he met an American named Emily, living in Notting Hill. They shared a mutual love of music and a passion for creative expression. Soon they married and moved to the states to start a guitar school. Six years and three children later, The London School of Guitar is thriving and the annual Guitar Workshop is bigger and better than ever! The guitar school is nestled in the beautiful mountains of Northern Utah and boasts enthusiastic and extremely talented instructors and students. Our philosophy has always been "Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway"- we encourage our students through aggressive teaching styles and hardcore technical exercises to become the guitarists they dream of being. We have FUN and LAUGH but we are SERIOUS about the guitar!

The London School of Guitar Workshop began as a natural extension of seminars and master classes held throughout the year for the guitar school. The goal was to provide a relaxed and intimate setting where students would feel completely supported and encouraged to be pushed beyond their personal limits and stretched to become the musicians they hoped to be. It's always exciting to learn from professionals in the field, so we brought in Grammy Award winning, world-famous artists to act as mentors and special instructors throughout the week. Past Guest Artists include Jim Fairchild of Modest Mouse, blues legend Sonny Landreth, KISS rock god Ace Frehley, and country/blues/hip-hop master G. Love. In order to ensure quality one-on-one time with core instructors and guest artists we limit our entire program to 40 total registrants.

In scouting locations for the workshop we put the utmost import on the 'feel' of the place, and the way the environment would lend itself to the creative process. When we discovered The Colony, an ultra-secluded luxury development above The Canyons Resort in stunning Park City, Utah, we knew it was the perfect setting for our curriculum and exclusive artist access.

Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Classes and clinics for ages 14 and up are held throughout the impressive 11,000 sq ft mansion. The exquisite mansion boasts sweeping views of The Canyons, Park City and Deer Valley Resorts, and is surrounded by the natural beauty of Aspen, Maple, Conifer, Mahogany, Lupine, and Oak trees at an elevation of 8,500 ft. We provide delicious meals and accommodation for those staying onsite in the property, and also offer discounted rates for suites at the nearby Canyons Resort.

We look forward to meeting you and helping you on the path toward your own creative goals! We have carefully selected the best instructors in the biz for our guitar workshop to help you become the guitarist and songwriter you've dreamed of. In addition, we have worked hard to bring the very best Guest Artists to inspire and mentor you. We care for each of our students and want you to achieve your wildest dreams as a musician! This is an amazing week filled with great friends, food, and loads of GREAT MUSIC.
